Completion discipline
Completion discipline fits in one sentence: an incomplete pattern is not a pattern. In a double top, two peaks make only a candidate; the pattern completes when price CLOSES below the neckline. The rule is the same for a head and shoulders — while the right shoulder is forming, the structure is open to both outcomes, and if price recovers and prints a new high the candidate quietly dissolves into ordinary consolidation. On a chart the discipline means saying "pattern" not at the moment you spot a candidate but at the moment you see the close beyond the neckline, after which the evidence trio takes over. Candidate structures form constantly and most never complete — nothing is wrong with that; the market owes your templates nothing. The common misreading comes in two forms: declaring a "double top" the moment the second peak appears, and concluding from historical charts that patterns "almost never miss". History remembers only the ones that completed; erased candidates leave no trace. For risk literacy the discipline reads: never speak on the market's behalf before price has proven its case.
